The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides disaster mitigation funding to state agencies, local governments/communities, private non-profit organizations, and Indian Tribal governments. The HMA programs present a critical opportunity to reduce the risk to individuals and property from natural hazards while simultaneously reducing reliance on Federal disaster funds. Although individuals are not eligible to apply directly for HMA’s three programs, eligible applicants can apply on behalf of individuals. HMA’s programs:
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) provides funding following a Presidential major disaster declaration.
The Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Program and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Programs provide annual funding.
