Our Mission:

Snowy Mountain Development Corporation (SMDC) is sponsored and directed by local people to improve the economic and social conditions through conservation, utilization, expansion and development of the natural, fiscal, capital and human resources that are accessible and in the area.

SMDC serves as the regional vehicle to bring people of diverse background, expertise, resources, interests and viewpoints together to address the problems, challenges and issues that affect the quality of life for residents in this area. Maintaining a comprehensive vision, and leading through SMDC and its working task forces, will provide Central Montana with the opportunity to diversify the economy.

Our History:

SMDC was formed in 2001 to focus on economic development in the six-county region in central Montana including Fergus, Golden Valley, Judith Basin, Musselshell, Petroleum and Wheatland Counties. We are a non-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors and administered by a professional staff living and working in central Montana. SMDC is the leading economic development corporation in our region and has achieved recognition as an Economic Development District by Economic Development Administration and as a Certified Regional Development Corporation by the Montana Department of Commerce.
